Man-of-War

Holding on to a boogie board, I was happy that I just caught my first big wave on the beach of Bellows AFS. But being a very lousy bodyboarder, I lost my balance and tumbled forward with the wave..and I was still happy. Until I felt like I was struck by lightning or some thin hot metal wire coiled around my arms. When I stood up I saw a long blue thread dangling from my shoulders down to my elbows, and at the end hangs this blob creature. That was when I started freaking out. I was stung by a man-of-war!
.
I run to the beach and a lifeguard came to spray alcohol (I think) on me..and told me about what's going to happen in a few minutes, and no I was not going to die. The poison will just seep through my veins and lymph nodes and affect my nervous system and my musles will feel heavy..blah..blah. Just keep dry. Ok. Thank You very much.
.
That was the last that I had ever taken a dip on the waters of the fine beaches of Hawaii.
